Late post, next project
Sorry SBS, I borrowed the image (the concept for the is one made by the BBC). |
So, I'll cut to the chase and apologies for a second late blog post. I've been struggling with the next idea, and I've got a few different ideas in mind. While asking family members, one of them suggested I try and make a game to do with words. I also had a suggestion to make an educational game about maths.
And then I remembered watching an episode of a show called "Letters and Numbers".
For those who have never watched it, I will catch you up to speed. It is a game show where two contestants try to outsmart the opponent by wining rounds in a few games that involve letters and numbers. Letters games see contestants trying to create a word with the most number of letters from a random selection asked by the player. Numbers games are a bit more interesting with the players asking for small and large numbers. These are then used to calculate an entirely different number that is randomly generated. An example of this would be the player asking for four small number(1, 7, 8, 9) and two large numbers(19, 57) to get the number 750. The player with the closest number wins.
It was that game that got me thinking: What if I created a game based off that?
So, here's the logs for the challenge, get your tick boxes ready:
- Create a game based around solving maths problems
- The player selects small and large numbers
- upon the completion of the selection, a number is randomly generated between 1 and 1000
- The player clicks buttons to bring the numbers to into play along with buttons to add a symbol to the next effect.
- Players are told how close they got once they complete their equation
Bonus round:
- The game makes it's own calculations to get as close as possible to the randomly generated number and shows it's working
- Score board
This one should be fun and less agonising then the last one
